Colon Health Detoxing - Add Fibre and Water
It takes up to six days for food to go through your whole digestive system and reach the rectum.
If you have a client who suffers from headaches and bloating, it may help them to do a colon detox or a special fourteen day detox that focuses on emptying the intestines.
For the fourteen day health detox, clients would focus on adding small amounts of fat and increase water to flush the intestines. Surprisingly water doesn't just speed through the body. The body digests water and tea like food. According to the research, it takes up to forty minutes for a tea beverage to get through your stomach and small intestine. If your body needs water, it will get absorbed in the larger intestine.
Through the fourteen day detox, you will be providing more water to your body so that it can remove toxins and let go of the digested food remnants in your larger intestine.
The process of clearing out the larger intestine takes about two weeks with teas and juice and broth. You can clear the larger intestines and colon over a longer period of time by adding fibre to clean the colon and increasing your water intake. A diet that includes vegetables with their skin, leafy greens and roasted nuts will be adding insoluble fibre that will scrub the intestines. Soluble fibre such as cooked vegetables, apples and oatmeal form a gel that adds bulk and softens stool to pass out of the body.
Adding both soluble and insoluble fibre to your daily diet will help keep the lower intestines cleaner and keep your digestive system flowing with less stress.
